The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and CHispa are proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month 2011!   National Hispanic Heritage Month is a period from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate Hispanic heritage & culture. As stated in the Constitution of the Carolina Hispanic Association at the University of North Carolina, "The main purpose of this organization is to promote Hispanic culture[s] within the greater university community and to: 1) Encourage a greater awareness of Hispanic issues 2) Stimulate interest in the Hispanic cultural affairs and issues both within and beyond the university community 3) Bring together students with an interest in Hispanic culture[s] regardless of their original cultural background 4) Promote Hispanic cultural events among the general public." CHispA seeks to be at the forefront of promoting and spreading cultural awareness and diversity here at UNC and beyond!
