William "Bill" Randall to speak at UNC July 30, 2009 -- Bill Randall, candidate for the United States House of Representatives for North Carolina's 13th Congressional District will be visiting UNC on Monday, October 12, 2009. At 7:00 pm in Gardner 105, Mr. Randall will lay out his vision for the United States and explain why he would better represent North Carolinians in the 13th Distict than Rep. Brad Miller.
Prior to running for Congress, Randall served in the United States Navy for 27 years of active duty, worked as a small business owner, and, most recently, ran for Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. NCGOP Chairman Tom Fetzer to visit UNC
July 29, 2009 -- The newly elected chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, Tom Fetzer, will speak at UNC on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 7:00 pm in Howell 104. Chairman Fetzer will speak about his vision for the North Carolina Republican Party and what roles he sees NCGOP auxiliaries, including the College Republicans, playing. Before being elected Chairman of the NC Republican Party, Mr. Fetzer served as mayor of Raleigh for six years and as a teaching fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Mr. Fetzer later accepted a position with the United States Tennis Association in New York before returning to Raleigh as a political consultant. Frank Roche to speak at UNC July 25, 2009 -- Frank Roche, candidate for the United States House of Representatives for North Carolina's 4th Congressional District will be visiting UNC on Monday, September 21, 2009. At 7:00 pm in Howell 104, Mr. Roche will lay out his vision for the United States and explain why he would better represent both UNC students and other voters in the surrounding communities than Rep. David Price.
After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Economics, Mr. Roche worked for 15 years in the foreign exchange products division of international banking in Boston and Manhattan. In these positions, Mr. Roche expanded his skill set from trading to macroeconomic analysis and trading system analysis. Jonah Goldberg to appear at UNC 
June 25, 2009 -- New York Times bestselling author and syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg has agreed to appear at UNC on September 28th in the Great Hall of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. Mr. Goldberg will deliver a lecture entitled Liberal Fascism. Attendees will also be able to get their questions answered by Mr. Goldberg following his presentation. The program will begin at 7:00 pm and admission is free.
