William "Bill" Randall to speak at UNC
Prior to running for Congress, Randall served in the United States Navy for 27 years of active duty, worked as a small business owner, and, most recently, ran for Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. July 29, 2009 -- The newly elected chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, Tom Fetzer, will speak at UNC on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 7:00 pm in Howell 104. Chairman Fetzer will speak about his vision for the North Carolina Republican Party and what roles he sees NCGOP auxiliaries, including the College Republicans, playing. Before being elected Chairman of the NC Republican Party, Mr. Fetzer served as mayor of Raleigh for six years and as a teaching fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Mr. Fetzer later accepted a position with the United States Tennis Association in New York before returning to Raleigh as a political consultant. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Economics, Mr. Roche worked for 15 years in the foreign exchange products division of international banking in Boston and Manhattan. Jonah Goldberg to appear at UNC
June 25, 2009 -- New York Times bestselling author and syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg has agreed to appear at UNC on September 28th in the Great Hall of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. Mr. Goldberg will deliver a lecture entitled Liberal Fascism. Attendees will also be able to get their questions answered by Mr. Goldberg following his presentation. The program will begin at 7:00 pm and admission is free. Jonah Goldberg is one of the most prominent young conservative journalists on the scene today and is America's most widely read political columnist under the age of 40. Goldberg is a contributing editor to National Review and was the founding editor of National Review Online. He also writes a weekly column for the Los Angeles Times and his syndicated columns also appear regularly in numerous other newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, San Francisco Chronicle, Miami Herald, and Washington Examiner. For his work, Goldberg was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2008.
