TABS is an acronym for “Taking Action By Service”. Our organization is dedicated to service. The purpose of TABS is to serve our community while promoting the profession of pharmacy. TABS sets up service projects in the community and each member is required to participate in at least one service project per semester and to attend two of the three meetings which we have each semester. Our projects include cooking and serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, making arts and crafts with patients at the UNC Children's Hospital, and playing Bingo at a local nursing home. In addition, we make Thanksgiving baskets each year and distribute these to low-income seniors in our community. We also host a school-wide blood drive each semester. At ECSU, TABS members have adopted a street near campus and they play Bingo at a local retirement home.
