Hi there! What you are looking at is a default installation of the Mambo content management system. This tool is the result of a joint project between the Department of Technology and Systems Support in the Division of Student Affairs and Student Government. With this tool you can easily manage a web site for your organization. We have set up some default categories and menu items which you can see on the left-hand side of the screen. Simply by filling in the information in those areas, you'll have a basic web-site up and running in a very short time. Some basic things are already included with this site: a message board, photo gallery, calendar, document management and comments and ratings. We have also set things up so that you can add users to the site by using their ONYEN and ONYEN password. Hopefully this will help you get up and running quickly. One of the really nice things about this site is that it can automatically publish your front-page items (like this one) and events to the SLICE site. All you have to do to have an event added to the student organization calendar at the slice.unc.edu is put in in your calendar here and assign it to a category. Within about 1/2 an hour after you posting it, it will appear in the same category at slice.unc.edu. We truly hope this will help you get more attention across campus for your events. Any articles you publish to the front page here will also be pulled up to slice.unc.edu. The crawler on the front page there will display a random list of articles from all the student organization sites, and you can browse eveything by going to the student org news section. There is help built-in to Mambo, you will see it when you log-in at the site administration link. We have also provided some documentation at the slice.unc.edu site as well, just click on the "help" link in the menu there. Now start exploring and don't worry, you can't really break anything. Feel free to try out ideas, we truly hope you find this tool exciting and useful. Regards, the Division of Student Affairs and Student Government |
