- Welcome to the Carolina Kendo Club website
UNC kendo is a member dojo of Triangle Kendo & Iaido. Through this association we are part of the South Eastern US Kendo Federation and when members pay Federation dues they become eligible for promotional (shinsa) and tournament (taikai). Kendo is the art of Japanese fencing. Practices for Fall 2009 semester are on Friday nights from 6-8:30pm in Fetzer gym fencing room (room 07 downstairs). This schedule will continue until Woollen gym is open again probably. I know this conflicts with the Raleigh practice but it is the only night available to us. - At the Nov. 6 practice we may have a visitor that wants to film a little jigeiko with two members. Also this is a kata night, please remember to bring your bokuto.
- Word has it that Zachariah Cox was promoted to ikkyu at the SEUSKF Championship. Mike, as it turned out, was unable to go up for his sandan promotion exam and will have to wait till another opportunity comes along. I was also told that UNC member Llael Maffit performed well defeating a shodan in her first regional tournament. Congrats to all!
