UNC Triathlon came up huge this past weekend at the Collegiate National Triathlon Championships as the 3rd Place Men's Team! Called the "Little Team that Could", UNC went up against much larger and historically stronger clubs to lose only to UC-Berkeley and the United States Military Academy. In fact, UNC had possibly the closest finish in Collegiate Nationals history. The club tied in points with USMA, so the result went to the fastest combined time of the top-three finishers. The difference between UNC and USMA was only one second! Despite this close loss, the club is still incredibly happy with the podium spot and hopes to build on its recent success. Not to be outdone by the men, Chris Tommerdahl improved on last year's finish and took 3rd Overall Female along with a 2nd Overall Female Undergraduate. Chris sealed her spot with the fastest female swim of the day and a strong bike split. UNC's men put 4 into the top-50 with 3 in the top-30. Paul McCall came in as the men's top scorer and the 5th Overall Graduate Student. Duncan Hoge ran a 35:21 10K off the bike to a 21st overall. William Harrison rode just over an hour to seal a 26th overall. Andrew Herring finished off the day in 46th. UNC TriClub members who raced: Men: Paul McCall, Duncan Hoge, William Harrison, Andrew Herring, Adam Tosh, Matt Tenan, Tyrone Sampson, Matt Boddie Women: Chris Tommerdahl, Kassie Engroff, Kristina Meissen
